This site is the new and improved official site of the San Diego Vintners Association, where you’ll find everything you didn’t know about San Diego Winemaking, past and present. There’s a long history of the grape in San Diego, dating back to the first planted vines in California, by the San Diego Mission Friars.
Fast forward to 2011 and you will find over 5o wineries in San Diego, scattered across the landscape like sparkling jewels, waiting to be discovered in the Terroir. From old school Italian winemaking to modern young winemakers incorporating new methodology, the fine blend creates a uniqueness that resonates on the visitors palate, drawing them in for another sip, another trip across the valleys and hillsides for more of the hidden jewels that await.
